5th September 2012 by Eddie Lewis

Second day of Pilkington Womens Final

Merrion go into the second evening of the Pilkington final against Leinster at Anglesea Road in a strong position. Batting first in what is now a 30 over game, Merrion lost the early wickets of Melissa Scott Hayward and Rachel Delaney but half centuries by teenagers Blaidhnaid Breslin [52] and Elaine Tice [52*] created the platform for a belligerent 42 from irish captain isobel Joyce. Leisnter did well to get a couple of late run outs but Merrion ended on a very competitive 178/6.

For Leinster the Kenealy sisters were the pick of the bowlers with with Amy taking 1/34 and Suzanne 2/26. Anna Kerrison took the other wicket [1/31].

The match resumes this evening at 5.30.
