  3. Review of the season - RSA Division 14
2nd October 2012 by Paul Reynolds

Review of the season - RSA Division 14

How the league was won - From a very early stage, Division 14 was a two horse race. Whilst many teams were beating each other, Dundrum 3 and Clonee 2 were long time standard bearers for the division. Clonee beat Dundrum on May  19th to take the lead, but Dundrum then finished the season without losing another match. Clonee only lost twice - to Mullingar in July and Leinster in August. That was enough to leave them in second place. The nearest challengers were Mullingar 3 - and five consecutive losses between May 27 and June 30 put the end to the chances - more or less before they had even begun

How dreams turned to nightmares - With nothing below Division 14, there was nothing for the other teams to worry about. They just got to enjoy the cricket

Heroes with the willow - Clonee dominated the batting averages (See below). They had the top three batsmen by aggregate, with Sohit Sharma scoring 272 runs in an early season blitz before being banished to the 1sts.

Hell for leather - Interestingly, it was Civil Service who dominated the bowling, with both the top spots being grabbed by players from the club. Steve Livsey was the best with an incredible 21 wickets at 6.86.

Days to remember - Peter Crosse appeared in mid August having not turned out for Wicklow County for the last couple of years. It's fair to say he sneaked under the OCC's radar. In his first two matches with the ball, he took 3-9 and 5-6. Then against Mullingar on September 3rd, he took 8-9, the best bowling in the Open Competitions this year. He finished the season, with the incredible bowling stats of 19.2-8-24-16

Stat you may have missed - Bob Cramp of Leinster had six ducks in his nine innings
