Plenty of good entries this week, so we've decided to showcase five of them in today's article.
One thing that we should add before we go on. The photos in articles are never the easiest to view - so just go over to the gallery page, where they can be viewed in glorious tecnhocolour (http://www.cricketleinster.ie/photos/may-2013-cricket-leinsters-photo-of-the-year)
First up is this picture sent in by Rory MacMahon. The theme of dark clouds pops up a lot this week, and the timing of this picture couldn't be better, as Patrick Boland is about to lose his off stump. Rory explains, "This is a picture of Patrick Boland being bowled by Max Neville in the Gonzaga Past v Present match last Wednesday. Patrick is a a past-pupil but also a teacher in Gonzaga who runs the school cricket program, cue wild celebrations from the boys after this dismissal."
More schools cricket in our next entry, and this time the rain has come. The shot by Paul O'Hara has already been on the site in Kenny Carroll's report on the Tallaght Schools team. (http://www.cricketleinster.ie/news/tallaght-schools-cricket-team-2013)
Paul explains the photo further, "Here's a pic I took of some of the Tallaght Schools XI returning to the cover of the pavilion during a rain break against Blackrock College at a sodden Corkagh Park (May 9). The lads lost but acquitted themselves well in their debut outing, posting 117. "
We've had a picture of the rain approaching, one of it lashing, so time for one of it disappearing over the horizon. Rob Kenealy took this last night during Leinster 3's YCMA Salver match against Merrion 3.
Enough of the doom and gloom. Mullingar 3 made the trek to Greystones at the weekend, winning a thriller by 3 runs. Michael McAvoy top scored for Mullingar with 34, and Eoin Feely captured this McAvoy off drive.
And finally something of a quandary for the search for Cricket Leinster's Photo of the Year. The March and April winners were both taken by Michael Gavin of the Hills, who happened not surprisingly to be in Milverton for Leinster Lightning's first ever match in the IP50. And at the crucial time, Michael just happened to be in the right place, and took this brilliant photo as Kevin O'Brien hit the winning runs.
Hopefully Michael, and everyone else keeps sending in their photos. You can submit them by sending them to photos@cricketleinster.ie
