KNOCKHARLEY EARN MINOR CUP REDEMPTION!

12 months on from their runners-up effort in the same competition, Knockharley 3 went one better in today’s Minor Cup final - earning a 9 run victory in a fine game which ebbed and flowed throughout!

Having won the toss, Adamstown elected to field first, and in spite of getting a 10 over game underway on time, rain intervened after just 6 balls, leading to a 40-minute delay.

When play resumed, Knockharley were right on the back foot, and could only stumble to 28/3 at the halfway stage, from there however they accelerated proceedings, and the next time rain interrupted the innings, the score had moved to 62/4. Play resumed after just five minutes, and the Kentstown side made the most of their last 8 balls, posting a competitive total of 80/4.

Adamstown’s chase started slowly too, however the fifth over saw 19 off it, and the side were more than halfway to their target at the halfway stage of the innings.

Knockharley however pulled things right back in the 6th & 7th overs of the innings, with just 8 runs coming and two wickets falling. From that stage, the Adamstown innings was in big trouble, and they couldn’t overcome the run rate jumping about 10 an over. Ultimately finishing 71/5 from their 10 overs and falling to a 9 run defeat.
