This afternoon saw Phoenix win the Minor 2 Cup off the back of a scintillating batting display that saw them rack up 146 in their batting effort.

Clontarf won the toss and elected to bowl first, a decision that reaped some short term gain as they were able to prise out the early wicket Ryan Gillen with the score on 22. From there Ruvin Reddy Loka staged an onslaught moving his personal score to 61 and the team score to 107 before being removed in the 15th over. Emmet Staunton Jnr put the icing on the cake for his side, adding a further 39 in the final 4.3 overs eventually shepherding his side to 146 at the close of their innings.

The chase never really got going for Clontarf, as Phoenix had them under pressure from the start, they were reduced to 24/2 after 4 overs however they were able to briefly rebuild to 56/2 at the midway point. From there they unfortunately wilted in the face of endless pressure from the Phoenix outfit, losing 5 wickets for just 30 runs and in doing so left themselves 86/7. The late order fought hard in the face of a tough task but could only drag their team to 106/9, running out losers by 41 runs. Ayyan Hamad was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets while there was 2 for Ahmed Ali.

Cricket Leinster would like to thank Clontarf Cricket Club for hosting on such short notice, it is greatly appreciated.
