In a day where there were only three results from the 6 games which began at 12 Noon, our featured action of the day saw victory for Pembroke, whilst other results saw Malahide and Railway Union both pulling through in run-chases, whilst there were no results in the games in Cork County, Leinster & Balbriggan.
The featured action saw Phoenix winning the toss and choosing to bat first, and that looked like an excellent decision initially, as Shane Getkate and Levon Shields added 55 for the first wicket. That was until Joe Prendergast removed Shields, before two balls later knocking back Eknoor Singh's off-stump to put Pembroke on top.
Another 55-run partnership between Getkate and Joe Cotgreave brought Phoenix to 110, before the opener holed-out to Jack Tector at cow-corner off the bowling of Paul Lawson for 54. Cotgreave followed shortly later for 39, as 142/3 became 176/6, as Pembroke turned the screw.
An unbeaten 48 from Adam Chester brought proceedings right up to the rain break, and when the innings was terminated in the 48th over, the score had reached 223/7. Prendergast (2/41) and Lawson (2/39) the pick of the bowlers for the home side.
No team is quite as successful in the recent past as Pembroke when it comes to games involving rain delays, and once again a long wait ensued, at 17:44 a 26 over chase of 172 did commence, and when it did, Tim Tector started like a man on a mission. He blasted five maximums and nine boundaries in a 44-ball 86, putting the Sydney Parade side into the driving seat.
27 from fellow opener JJ Garth, and an unbeaten 26 from Jack Tector helped Pembroke to a 6-wicket victory with 5 overs to spare, as only Raghav Grover escaped unscathed in the bowling attack, taking 2/23 in his 5 over spell.
The other games which saw results included an incredible fixture in Kenure, where Rush, having blasted their way past 300 in the 40th over, thanks in no small part to Nathan McGuire's 149, elected to retire all their batsmen out, meaning they were all out for 315. Sumit Kumar the pick of the Railway bowlers, taking 4/60 in 9 overs. The chase saw Railway needing 205 in 25 overs, and keeping wickets in hand, they stayed well ahead of the par score throughout the chase. Letli Sesele making 52, Rob O'Brien 50 and Muhammad Sinan 46 from just 24 deliveries as they reached the total with an over to spare.
Finally in Malahide, The Hills batted first and thanks primarily to Adnan Shinwari's 57, accompanied by no fewer than 5 batters making scores in the 20s, posted a moderate looking total of 225 all out inside 48 overs. Much like around the grounds, Malahide's chase was interrupted by rain, however it didn't halt their momentum as after the loss of Timcy Khanduja for 21, an unbroken 95 run stand between Robbie Foulkes and Cormac McLoughlin-Gavin saw the pair finishing 63 and 37 not out respectively, reaching their target with 9 wickets to spare in the 15th over.
