WINS FOR THE HILLS, KNOCKHARLEY & ADAMSTOWN IN FIRST TEAM LEAGUE (2.8.2026)

Two young players provided stand-out performances in two of the three First Team League games today – firstly Febin Manoj set up a comfortable home win for The Hills taking 6/41 whilst in Oak Hill, Dinesh Antony underpinned his emerging talent with another fine, unbeaten ton (128*) to set up Adamstown for a solid win over Quins. A special mention also for young Gareth Morgan who led a recovery for Terenure with an unbeaten 66 albeit in a losing cause. Brandon Kruger was the standout with the ball for Knockharley finishing with figures of 10/0/16/4 which proved crucial to the end result. 

ADAMSTOWN WIN BY 97 RUNS IN OAK HILL

Adamstown made excellent first use of the pitch at Oak Hill as solid contributions from all their top and middle order ensured that they were able to amass an imposing total off their allotted overs . The highlight for Adamstown was undoubtedly a brilliant hundred off 89 balls from Dinesh Antony Kidagen David. He had come to the wicket with the score on 84/3 and with support from Prashanth Prabhu Damodaran (43), Niranjan Muthu (25) and Shreyas Rajesh (21), 187 runs were added in the next 32 overs. Dinesh Antony finished unbeaten on 129* off 103 balls (15X4, 2X6) as the Adamstown set Cork Harlequins 308 for victory. 

Best with the ball for Quins was the experienced Seanan Jones who finished with 3/51 in his 10 overs whilst Seneth Sumanasinghe had chipped in earlier with 2/39. Otherwise, it had been a challenging afternoon in the field for the Cork lads.

The Quins reply got off to a slow start and had reached 49/3 off the first 11 overs with only Adam Hickey keeping any scoring momentum until he became Shravon Biju’s second victim for a solid run-a-ball 37. The only other material contribution for Quins came from Ryan Joyce who plundered 47 off just 28 balls before rain brought a break in proceedings with Quins on 148/6 off 22 overs, 160 were still required with just 4 wickets in-hand. Joyce duly completed his fifty immediately after the rain break and continued in the same vein as he took the attack to Adamstowndespite wickets continuing to fall at the other end. Dinesh Antony then joined the attack and capped off a fine individual performance by removing Joyce for 71 (off just 45 balls) and then the dangerous Umer Khan two overs later. The visitors were all out for 210 with 20 overs unused, Prabhanshu Kamal finishing with 4/57.

KNOCKHARLEY WIN BY 4 WICKETS IN TERENURE

Having been put into bat, Terenure had slumped to 129/8 in somewhat familiar fashion before a 78-run partnership between the returning Gareth Morgan and Aamir Bafanda rescued things. When Bafanda was eventually dismissed by Kashif Ali for a well-made 28, Terenure were 207 with just 4 overs of the innings remaining. The early damage for Knockharley was all done by a combination of Brandon Kruger (4/16 off 10) and Sumit Singh with 3/39 including the key wicket of Terenure captain, Henry Dall. Morgan remained undefeated on 66* (off 76 balls) as Terenure were all out for 214 with three overs unused.

The Knockharley chase got off to a shaly start as both openers were removed within the first 6 overs. Don Retty and Muhammad Nawaz then steadied things until the introduction of Henry Dall into the attack brought about the demise of Nawaz for 23, Knockharley were now 67/3 off 14. Knockharley continued to accumulate runs with no less than 6 players scoring 20 or more. The veteran Shami Ahmed chipped in with 28 and when he was dismissed by Dall, Knockharley had reached 155/6 off 30 overs with a further 60 required off the remaining 20 overs with 4 wickets in-hand.

Daneyaal Janjua then partnered with Sumit Singh to add crucial runs as the home side searched unsuccessfully for a break-through. Whilst Janjua retired hurt on 30 with the score on 188, Kashif Ali then supported Singh to steer Knockharley to an important 6 wicket win and in doing so keep the pressure on The Hills at the top of the table. Singh finished unbeaten on 35* whilst Ali had the honour of hitting the winning boundary off the first ball of the 49th over. From 103/5, the visitors had added 114 for the loss of just one more wicket!

THE HILLS WIN BY 6 WKTS TO STAY TOP

North Kildare chose to bat first at The Vineyard and despite a solid 40 from the ever-reliable Asadullah Ahmadzai, another batting slump ensued such that they lost 5 wickets for 30 runs in being reduced to 124/8 in only the 34th over. Febin Manoj ripped through the Kildare middle and late order to finish with 6/41 off 8.5 overs, a fine return which ensured the home side would be chasing no more than 152 for victory. Abdul Aryan at number 8 for North Kildare ensured some respectability to the team total with a fighting 31 off 45 balls before he became Manoj’s fifth victim.

The Sherzad brothers (Muzamil and Yaseen) got The Hills reply off to a rapid start putting on 93 for the first wicket in only 10.5 overs. Yaseen was the first to go for 43 off just 33 balls quickly followed by Muzamil for 36, both caught by Abdul Aryan off the bowling of Nazmus Monon. Nurulain Boda then chipped in with two further wickets including Nathan Rooney second ball however Max Robertson saw The Hills home by 6 wickets with a full 27 overs to spare.
