  3. OC Fantasy Tables No 1
11th May 2016 by Craig Senior

OC Fantasy Tables No 1

My goodness, even by Irish standards that was some “heatwave” we experienced on Sunday. In line with the recent Met Eireann decision to name storms, Sunday will henceforth be known as Sunshine Aideen. Monday morning saw many red faces and farmer’s tans around the country as the population were taken by surprise by the ferocity of the heat coming from on high.

It therefore seems like the ideal time, what with the season now a few weeks old and with over 1,000 persons out playing cricket, to issue the first fantasy tables.

The first overall leader is Dublin University’s Lorcan Tucker. Lorcan has already claimed his first century, in a losing cause versus Malahide and also probably will benefit from playing not only for DUCC in Division 2, but later he will return to Sydney Parade and Division 1 cricket with Pembroke. He did appear for Pembroke in their Bob Kerr All-Ireland First Round Cup game versus Lisburn, but these games do not count towards the fantasy league.

Here are the top twenty in the overall list. If you feel that you are missing games, or points, please take it up with your captain and make sure he has submitted your result.

  1. Lorcan Tucker Dublin University                  344
  2. Muhammed Nurulain Boda Castleknock          326
  3. Ross Shivmangal Merrion                              314

  5. Neil Boyne Malahide                                     302
  6. George Dockrell Dublin University                  299
  7. Syfuzzaman Khan Clondalkin                        290
  8. Nitin Naik Phoenix                                        281
  9. Muhammad Haris Castleknock                      273
  10. Jack McGee Rush                                         271
  11. Kyle Healy Ringcommons                              261

In the runs scored category the table below is once again led by Lorcan Tucker and includes all 27 players who have at least 100 runs so far. Special mention to Freddie Klokker who scored all of his 161 runs in 141 balls in his one league appearance to date as newly promoted The Hills beat Pembroke.

  27. Michael O' Brien Malahide                            100

Leading the wicket takers is recent recruit to Merrion, Ross Shivmangal, whilst Pembroke’s Joe Prendergast and another recent mover from Halverstown to Civil Service, Stuart Gallagher will both be delighted that they have as many wickets as Ireland and Dublin University’s George Dockrell. Sean McCann’s 7 wickets include his five wicket haul in Division 11 as Rush beat Pembroke and included the author.

  1. Ross Shivmangal Merrion                      10
  2. Neil Boyne Malahide                                  9

  17. Manjinder Singh Lucan                                 7
  18. Justin Doherty Pembroke                              7

  • Pardeep Singh Castleknock                  5
  • Justin Doherty Pembroke                      5
  • Irfan Arshad North County                    5
  • Riley Shoebridge Malahide                    5

When it comes to the highest individual scores, 13 players have scored centuries and it seems churlish not to mention them all at this early stage of the season. They have all sprung from the traps and are heading off at great speed.

  1. Freddie Klokker The Hills                        161
  2. Eamonn Byrne Leinster                             140

  12. Ross MacMahon Leinster                               101
  13. Michael O' Brien Malahide                            100

Conor Gibbons is our next leader, but it is not the category he would have chosen to lead. Ducks are the only negative category we have and one that no-one wants to appear on. Conor was third on the ducks table over the past 5 years, but has worked wonders to leap straight to the top already this season. 11 players have already suffered two ducks.

  1. Conor Gibbons Malahide                            3
  2. Robert Gorvin Dublin University                    2
  3. V Sunil Valliyuzhathil Lucan                          2
  4. Sharqat Ayub Clontarf                                2
  5. Ali Raza Laois                                             2
  6. Steve Smith Malahide                                   2

  10. Nathan McGuire Rush                                       2
  11. Mohit Kakkar Lucan                                     2

No-one has managed two five wicket hauls as yet, but 13 bowlers have captured their first five wicket haul, including the aforementioned Sean McCann.

  • Neil Boyne Malahide                                     1
  • Sean McCann Rush                                       1
  • Khalid Chaudhary Wicklow County                    1

  • Patrick Mount Mullingar                            1

  14. Maharshi Pandya Leinster                               4
  15. Colm Cunneen The Hills                               4

Lorcan Tucker, our overall point leader and top run scorer is also the leader of the stumpings table. Dublin University must have a few spinners enabling Lorcan to capitalise and lead here. The table shows all stumpings to date and include the Leinster Lightning keeper, Jamie Grassi, the ever-green Angus Hancock and in total three North County keepers.
