  3. Mid-Season Report: RSA OCD14
1st July 2014 by Eddie Lewis

Mid-Season Report: RSA OCD14

We start our mid-season review of what is happening in the different leagues with D14. It is a nine-team league in which up to 23rd June 21 matches had been played, including four No Results [NR]. At that point Mullingar III were top the table and unbeaten on 86.67%. They are closely challenged by Wicklow II who are on 82.4% with four wins out of six [one NR]. The league title looks to be between these two teams as there is a big gap to the third placed side, Leinster VII on 52%. [See below]

So far this season 173 players have turned out in this league. 56 are youth players.

There have been three centuries in the league, Danish Iqbal [108*] and Somasekhar Rapulo [104] for Merrion VIII and Khalid Chaudhary [128] for Wicklow II. Chaudary also has the highest number of runs.

Four players qualify for the bowling averages with 8 or more wickets. There have been three five wicket hauls – Stephen Crawley of Balbriggan and Vicram Reddy of Merrion both got 5/11, but the best individual performance is from Keith Kilduff of Mullingar [5/7]. Averages, however, are no respecters of BPs and only Stephen Crawley makes it into the averages.

Chaudary is the only player to make it onto both lists. Two youth players figure on lists, Stephen Crawley [U17] is the leading wicket taker and Declan Askley [U19] in the batting.

Since the Table was compiled the Wicklow and Mullingar have met with the former coming out comfortable winners by eight wickets. If Wicklow can repeat that result when the two teams meet again on 16th August they will be in a strong position to take the title. Merrion VIII also have an outside chance of a run at promotion, they beat Leinster last weekend, but have been badly hampered by the deduction of points.
