  3. Mid Season Report: RSA OCD12
2nd July 2014 by Eddie Lewis

Mid Season Report: RSA OCD12

Division 12 is yet another nine team league. 30 matches have been played up to 23rd June [there are no scorecards for two and they are not included in tables] and there have been 5 NRs. 187 players have turned out for the various teams, 38 of whom are youth players.

Swords II are the current leaders on 75% but have played two additional games for which no scorecards have been submitted. Three teams, Merrion VII, Adamstown III and Halverstown are within a couple of percentage points of each other and less than 10 behind the leader. At the midway point, therefore, a very open competition with the title and promotion up for grabs.

The same, however, cannot be said of the bottom of the table where Pembroke VI and Bagenalstown IIs have been detached from the rest and seem destined for relegation.

The calculation of averages have been complicated by the forced exclusion of a number of players from DU who have qualified for the averages but show more innings than matches played. These have [unfairly it is true] been left out until the figures can be checked by Paul Reynolds on his return from holiday.

Two players have achieved the 150 runs to be included in the averages. Paul Byrne of Railway Union leads the batting with the highest run total and best average. There have been no centuries scored in the league so far this year.

Two bowlers have reached the requisite 10 wicket threshold. Manoj Jacob has been the most successful to date in terms of wickets taken, average and economy rate.   There have been a number of exception bowling performances with Manoj Nandanan of Swords taking 6/9 in a match and Jibin Thomas [DU] 6/38 and Craig Senior [Pembroke] 5/23.
