This afternoon saw Longford Cricket Club become the second men’s side to take home a T20 cup for 2025, they ran out comprehensive winners after a scintillating bowling effort put them in the box seat.

Longford won the toss and elected to bowl, a fresh wicket and overcast early conditions made it the obvious choice. Kilkenny made a solid start regrouping after the early loss of Junaid Farooqi runout. However brilliant spells from Mehar Imran (2/24), Umar Sarfraz (2/4) and Ahmed Bilal (3/5) saw the Kilkenny side bundled out for 81, only Ahsan Tasleem provided any resistance with a quickfire 32 from 11 balls.

A potentially tricky chase given the ground conditions early on was made to look simple by the Longford. They set about their task with quiet authority, moving the score to 41 before losing their only wicket in Danish Javed. That brought together Ahmed Bilal with Muhammad Balal and they brought their side home inside 10 overs finishing 38* and 29*.
Well done to both sides on an excellent campaign to get to this point and our thanks to LHK Insurance for their generous support of cricket in Leinster this season.
