The Leinster Lightning selectors have the pleasure of announcing the following squad for the third and final RSA Inter-Provincial Trophy T20 Blitz day, against the North-West Warriors in Bready on Sunday the 21st July 2013 scheduled to start at 3pm.
Kevin O’Brien (Railway Union); Bill Coghlan (Clontarf); Pat Collins (Railway Union); Tyrone Kane (Merrion); Fintan McAllister (Malahide); John Mooney (North County); Stephen Moreton (Leinster); Andrew Poynter (Clontarf); Eddie Richardson (North County); Max Sorensen (The Hills); Reinhardt Strydom (YMCA); Albert van der Merwe (YMCA).
The squad contains only one change from that which narrowly lost to the Northern Knights in the 2nd T20 Blitz Day on Tuesday. Wicketkeeper Stuart Poynter is on duty with MCC Young Players and is replaced by Malahide’s Fintan McAllister. Alex Cusack, Barry McCarthy, Andrew Balbirnie & Peter Chase were not considered for selection due to injury.
This year’s T20 competition finishes this Sunday and as it stands, the Lightning and the Knights have two wins and one defeat each. The Knights play the North-West Warriors in Sunday’s first game starting at 11am and even if the Knights win, the superior run-rate advantage currently held by the Lightning means that a win against the Warriors should be enough to secure the trophy which will be presented after the completion of the day’s play.
