Having secured the IP20 title for the ninth time in 13 years, the Sherwin O’Riordan sponsored Leinster Lightning will be targeting similar success as they look to defend their IP50 title in the final game of the IP season on Wednesday 27th August in Bready.

Lightning squad which won the IP20 title in July

Andre Botha’s squad go into this concluding fixture with a 4-point advantage over the Munster Reds who were only narrowly beaten by the NW Warriors last week. So the title is between Leinster and Munster (who must win) at this stage with the other permutations as follows:
| SCENARIO | OUTCOME |
| Both sides win | Leinster retain the IP50 title |
| Munster win with a bonus point & Leinster lose | Munster become IP50 Champions |
| Munster win with a bonus point & Leinster no result | Leinster retain the IP50 title |
| Munster win (no bonus point) & Leinster lose | Leinster retain IP50 title on net run rate |
| No result in either game | Leinster retain the IP50 title |
The squad for Bready includes one change from the last game at Stormont with Barry McCarthy returning from injury to strengthen both the seam bowling and lengthen the batting line-up. Reuben Wilson is unavailable as he is travelling to the UK with the Ireland U19s that day.

Barry McCarthy returns from injury for the final IP50 game
In Stormont last week, the Leinster Lightning completed a 6-wicket win in the 35th over – there were some solid contributions with the bat (Tim Tector 57, Chris De Freitas 38 and an unbeaten 43 off just 21 balls for David Delany) which backed up an earlier disciplined performance in the field where Matt Hollard (5/62) and Jai Moondra (2/21) restricted the Knights to 223 all out with almost 8 overs unused.
