Joyce, Delany and Gamble named in squad

Following last weekend’s pre-season T20 series against Denmark, the Leinster Lightning selectors have met and are delighted to announce the following squad of players who will form our initial 2015 Hanley Energy Inter-Provincial squad.

John Mooney – Captain (North County); John Anderson - Vice Captain (Merrion); Yaqoob Ali (YMCA); Kenny Carroll (Railway Union); Bill Coghlan (Clontarf); Alex Cusack (Clontarf); Eoghan Delany (Clontarf); Bobby Gamble (YMCA); Dom Joyce (Merrion); Tyrone Kane (Merrion); Fintan McAllister (Malahide); Cormac McLoughlin (The Hills); Kevin O’Brien (Railway Union); Andrew Poynter (Clontarf); Eddie Richardson (North County); Simi Singh (YMCA); Max Sorensen (The Hills); Fiachra Tucker (Pembroke); Lorcan Tucker (Pembroke).

Greg Molins, the newly-appointed national selector and now chairman of the Lightning panel, expressed his satisfaction at the balance of the squad, and is particularly pleased with the inclusion of Eoghan Delany, Dom Joyce and Bobby Gamble for the first time, decisions which reward consistently strong performances for their clubs over the past few seasons.

The Lightning’s UK based players have not been named in the squad for logistical/availability reasons but are very much in the selectors thought process.

After a very successful first season in charge John Mooney continues as Lightning captain, and along with recently appointed coach Ted Williamson they are hoping to go one better than last season by claiming all three trophies on offer in 2015.

The Lightning square off in this seasons T20 curtain raiser against the Knights on Friday 1st May in Stormont with a 4.30pm start time. The Lightning’s first home match is a 3-day championship game in Clontarf on the 12th May against the Warriors.
