Jamie Grassi called in to Lightning squad

The Leinster Lightning selectors have the pleasure in announcing the following squads for the next two Hanley Energy Inter-Provincial matches.

First up is a 3-day championship match against the Northern Knights and the start of the defence of the title we have held since the Inter-Pros’ were re-launched back in 2013. The game takes place in Clontarf Cricket Club starting on Tuesday the 10th May.

The squad for Clontarf CC:
John Anderson (Capt-Merrion); Yaqoob Ali (YMCA); Joe Carroll (Leinster); Peter Chase (Malahide); George Dockrell (Trinity/Leinster); Jamie Grassi (North County); Dom Joyce (Merrion); Andrew Poynter (Clontarf); Eddie Richardson (North County); Simi Singh (YMCA); Max Sorensen (The Hills); Jack Tector (YMCA).

Skipper John Anderson has been handed a near full-strength squad to choose from with only Tyrone Kane, Fintan McAllister and Kevin O’Brien unavailable due to exam, work and family commitments respectively. This sees a debut selection for North County’s young wicket-keeper/batsman, Jamie Grassi.

The first ball will be bowled in Castle Avenue at 11am and admission is free.

Following on from this game there is a quick turn-around to the first match of the defence of our 20-over crown which takes place in Merrion Cricket Club versus the North-West Warriors starting at 5pm on Friday the 13th May.

The squad for Merrion CC:
John Anderson (Capt-Merrion); Yaqoob Ali (YMCA); Joe Carroll (Leinster); George Dockrell (Trinity/Leinster); Dom Joyce (Merrion); Tyrone Kane (Merrion); Kevin O’Brien (Railway Union); Andrew Poynter (Clontarf); Eddie Richardson (North County); Simi Singh (YMCA); Max Sorensen (The Hills); Lorcan Tucker (Trinity).

With the weather forecast for Friday looking promising, this will be an entertaining evening and once again entry is free.
