IBI CORPORATE FINANCE PREMIER LEAGUE & CHAMPIONSHIP SATURDAY 29.07.2023

PREMIER LEAGUE – WINS FOR BALBRIGGAN, CLONTARF, MALAHIDE & YMCA

Leinster vs Balbriggan

Leinster 114 all out in 30.2 overs (P Francis 34, M Pollard 3-20, S Willemse 3-34, A Darroch 2-37)

DLS Target 107 in 42 overs

Balbriggan 109-1 in 16 overs (F Nasr 67*, C Rowe 30*)

Balbriggan won by 9 wickets (DLS)

The home team elected to bat first but found themselves up against a concerted bowling effort from Balbriggan’s seamers. Pollard, Willemse and Darroch all had success with Peter Francis the only batter to put up meaningful resistance.

After an interruption Balbriggan were set a target of 107 in 42 overs and they achieved this comfortably. Farooq Nasr smashed his way to 67 off 45 balls (13 fours and a six) and was backed up by Cameron Rowe with 30 off 46 balls (3 fours). They reached the target in 16 overs.

Farooq Nasr

Merrion vs Clontarf

Clontarf 218 all out in 39.2 overs (R Cronje 56, D Delany 51, PJ Moor 41, M Sinan 3-18, M Sorenson 3-51, J Neill 2-47, S Harbinson 1-58, M Neville 1-36)

Merrion 198 all out in 38.3 overs (J Anderson 51, S Modgill 30, F Hand 3-21, D Delany 2-32, J McNally 2-23, D Vincent 1-49, C McDonnell 1-23)

Clontarf won by 21 runs

A battle of the titans saw the away team chose to bat first. Half centuries from Cronje and Delany were the bedrock with Moor’s 41 also vital. However regular wickets from all the Merrion bowlers would leave both teams with work to do in the second innings.

Merrion started slow and steady, knowing that if they batted the overs that would likely see them past the target. Modgill and Anderson put on vital runs and at 140-4. Merrion would have fancied their changes. But none of the rest of the batters could get settled and Clontarf kept taking wickets. With 3 overs left and 21 to get Merrion lost their ninth wicket and with the absent hurt Forkin unavailable that was it, a narrow victory for Clontarf.

The Hills vs YMCA

YMCA 263/6 in 50 overs (A Rosslee (110*, A Burton 43, J Forbes 48, S McNicholl 2-56, C Nulty 1-56, T Rooney Murphy 1-53, N Damgaard 2-25)

DLS Target of 257 from 46 overs

The Hills 146 all out in 34.2 overs (M Commins 50, N Damgaard 40, H Tector 4-33, M O’Reilly 1-34, T Anders 1-37, A Bailey 1-11, A Burton 2-5)

YMCA won by 110 Runs (DLS)

Having won the toss, YMCA would be looking to put an unbeatable score on the board. Despite a top order collapse, thanks to Adam Rosslee (110*, 9 fours and one six) they did just that. He was backed up by James Forbes (48 off 39 balls). They would have been happy with their 263.

The home team were set a target of 257 off 46 overs and despite 50 from Cormac McLoughlin-Gavin and 40 From Nicolaj Damgaard they were never really in the chase. Harry Tector was a key bowler for YMCA with 4-33, in what might be his last game of the season for them. He was surprisingly available having been withdrawn from Leinster Lightning duty for the upcoming festival by Cricket Ireland. Ashley Burton also had some success with 2-5 as the last five Hills wickets fell for only 12 runs.

Railway Union vs Malahide (reduced to 33 overs)

Malahide 293/6 off 33 overs (H Kindley 145, Y Ahmadzai 88, H Maan 3-45, L McCarthy 1-44, S O’Brien 1-48)

Railway Union 212 all out off 33 overs (P le Roux 89*, Riley Mudford 28, K Donnelly 3-43, J Newland 1-45, M Frost 1-39, H Kindley 1-39, A Sheridan 2-25)

Malahide won by 81 runs

A spectacular innings of 145 off 108 ball by Hunter Kindley was the key moment in this game. With 17 fours and 3 sixes this was a spectacular contribution with Younus Ahmadzai’s 88 off 52 going under the radar completely! Hamza Mann was the only Railway Union bowler that would be happy to look at his figures, with 3-45 amid the carnage.

The Railway reply was always going to be a challenge and the dismissal of Riley Mudford by Kelvin Donnelly for 28 was key. Philippe le Roux played a brilliant Captain’s knock of 89* off 90 balls (7 fours and 2 sixes) but no one could stay with him and they were all out for 212 off the last ball of the reduced innings.

Hunter Kindley

CHAMPIONSHIP – WINS FOR CIVIL SERVICE, RUSH, PHOENIX & PEMBROKE

Civil Service vs Terenure

Civil Service 220/9 in 47 overs (N Joshi 40, S Singh 36, A Chandrasekar 28, B Thambi 27*, M Thomas 3-45, H Asad 2-33, G Kelliher 3-28, S Lynch 1-26)

Terenure 197 all out off 41.4 overs (S Lynch 53, G Kelliher 41, S Nair 30, N Khan 3-39, M Siqqique 2-12, A Bafanda 1-47, A Chandrasekar 1-39, V Srinivasan 3-30)

Civil Service won by 23 runs

Home advantage paid off well in this crucial mid table clash in the Park.  Service decided to have a bat first despite the uncertain weather and good contributions from Joshi, Singh and Chandraskear got them to a competitive 220 in the shortened innings of 47 overs. Thomas and Kelliher both bowled well for 3 wickets each.

The Terenure innings was rocked by the loss of both openers quickly but dropping Seamus Lynch paid off with a good half century from him. He put on just short of 100 with Gethin Kelliher (41) but once that partnership was broken the ship rocked a touch. A late order rally from Sidharth Nair (30) and a rearguard action from Mark Thomas (12 off 30 balls) got Terenure to 197, but the target was just out of reach. A competitive game with little between the sides.

Rush vs Cork County

Cork County 150 all out in 45.3 overs (A Siddique 54, S di Bartolomeo 28, J Barnes 5-27, C Egerton 2-31, A Eastwood 2-25, A Neary 1-24)

Rush 154/2 in 27.3 overs (N Mcguire 39, A Doheny 25, C Egerton 33* L Johnson 42*, S Di Bartolomeo 1-19, A Saddique 1-53)

Rush won by 8 wickets

The home team were invited to bat first and the top order was soon in trouble due to an inspired spell of bowling from Jared Barnes. He finished with 5-27 including 4 of the top 5 batters. Only late order runs from Abubaker Siddique (54 off 81, 6 fours and 2 sixes) gave something for Cork County to bowl at.

The Rush top order had different ideas however and all four batters got settled and scored freely. Llewlyn Johnson top scored with 42* (20 balls, 1 four and 5 sixes) as the total was chased with more than 20 overs to spare.

Jarred Barnes

Phoenix vs North County

North County 60 all out in 19.4 overs (J Devane 24, T Dempsey 3-26, B White 3-7, O Hald 1-22, A Sidhu 1-5)

DLS Revised Target 46 in 29 overs

Phoenix 46/0 in 6.5 overs (L Shields 32*, Johit Mungal 11*)

Phoenix won by 10 wickets (DLS)

The home team elected to bowl first and definitely made the most of the conditions. Only one North County batter made double figures, John Devane (24) and all the bowlers had some success. Ben White (3-7) and Theo Dempsey (3-26) will be most happy.

After a rain interruption Phoenix were set a target of 46 in 29 overs.

The chase didn’t take long with both Levon Shields (32 off 25 balls, 5 fours) and Johit Munjal (11 off 17, 2 fours) batting positively. None of the North County bowlers could make a breakthrough and the home team took maximum points to keep pressure at the top of the table.

Ben White

North Kildare vs Pembroke

North Kildare 82/10 off 19.5 overs (J Uddin 45, N Stapleton 3-13, P Lawson 4-18, Z Micklewright 1-22, P Sharma 1-10, L Murray 1-14)

DLS Revised Target 82 in 49 overs

Pembroke 82/1 in 12.2 overs (N Stapleton 50*, H Maroof 1-30)

Pembroke won by 9 wickets (DLS)

Another stellar performance from Nicholas Stapleton saw him take three wickets and score a half century in Pembroke’s comfortable win over North Kildare.

The Home team won the toss and decided to bat but were in trouble early and often; only Josh Uddin was able to put an innings together with a creditable 45. Paul Lawson and Nicholas Stapleton were the pick of the bowlers.

After a brief interruption and the loss of one over, Pembroke set about the chase. And that man Stapleton set about the bowling with 50 off 34 balls (5 fours & 3 sixes) to seal a comfortable victory and to consolidate their position at the top of the table.
