ED SPORTS DIVISION 2 – INDIVIDUAL AWARDS CONFIRMED (SEPT 2ND)

The first Women’s League of the season to reach it’s completion was ED Sports Division 2, which culminated last Tuesday with Clontarf 2 completing a league and cup double to round out the 2026 season.

That also means that the individual award winners for this league have today been confirmed, with the leading batter, bowler and wicketkeeper all set to be presented with their prizes at the CL Awards Night and Gala Dinner in the Round Room at the Mansion House on January 29^th 2027.

BATTING

Starting off with the batting award, and with a qualifying threshold of 350 runs it sees four of the top five averaging between 40 and 50, with Orla Bagnall (Leinster), Melissa Scott-Hayward (North Kildare), Rosie Neuman-Jones (Clontarf) and Sarah Prendergast (Terenure) all featuring in our final list.

However the award has been retained for the 2026 season, as having featured seven times in a blockbuster second half of the season, Pembroke’s Isobel Jennings claims the award for the second year in a row, as seven knocks saw her making four fifties and an unbeaten century, in amassing 397 runs at an average of 79.4.

BOWLING

The bowling award this year saw three bowlers reaching the qualification mark of 18 wickets, with notable performances coming from Anna Callahan, who won the Division 3 award in 2025, taking 18 wickets at an average of 16.28, whilst Pembroke’s Mhairi Nicoll claimed 19 wickets at an average just a tick above 14.5.

This year’s winner though is the only bowler to pass 20 wickets in the list, dismissing 22 batters, and doing so at an average of just 13.82. A remarkable season from Terenure’s Georgia Duke saw her taking two or more wickets in an innings on no fewer than 8 occasions, including best figures of 4/17 against Malahide, to see her claim the award for 2026.

WICKET-KEEPING (HEARNDEN CUP)

This year’s winner of the Hearnden Cup is Ella McMahon, who’s three catches and two stumpings saw her jumping to the top of the list in the last couple of weeks in the season, finishing just ahead of Aoife Brennan of Merrion, who finished the campaign with four catches behind the stumps.
