Cricket Leinster hosted its first major Inclusion Webinar tonight with over 50 people in attendance.
A short video piece was presented at the outset which featured various people within the club cricket community describing what ‘inclusion’ means to them and/or their club - this was a very enlightening piece.
The overall session was hosted and facilitated by Meena Baskarasubramanian and Judith Neuman-Jones, both of whom lead CL’s Inclusion Programme as part of the Committee chaired by Aideen Rice.
The webinar was opened by Stella Downes, CL President which was followed by three keynote presentations as follows:
- Women’s Cricket & Women in Cricket (by Siobhan McBennett)
- Special Needs & Disability Inclusion in Cricket (by Naomi Scott-Hayward)
- Ethnic Minority Inclusion in Cricket (by Sayed Shah)
Each of these presentations was accompanied by a lively and engaging Q&A session.
The most exciting outcome from tonight’s webinar is that there is a major appetite within the club cricket community to ensure that we take actions at all levels to maximise the inclusive nature of our sport.
It is also clear to all that, as a sport, we have a major opportunity to provide leadership in this area as we are already a very diverse sport in many ways.
There will undoubtedly be follow-up events on specific topics/areas and in the interim, the CL Inclusion Committee would like to thank all participants for their engagement and support.
