Cricket Leinster is delighted to announce the appointment of Bernard O'Mara to the new post of Midlands Development Officer.
Bernard is a highly qualified and experienced Development Officer having most recently worked for Sussex County Cricket Club as both a Community & Pathway Coach. In this role, Bernard was responsible for delivering key participation programmes, including Chance to Shine, All Stars Cricket, Lady Taverners Cricket, Women's Soft Ball Cricket, as well as Wicketz, Street Cricket and Walking Cricket.
Bernard is already based in the midlands and is a long-standing member at Bagenalstown Cricket Club, having also previously fulfilled coaching and development roles in both the midlands region and at North Kildare Cricket Club. A graduate of Maynooth University, Bernard is also a UKCC Level 3 qualified cricket performance coach.
On his appointment, Bernard said - "I am delighted to be appointed to this role in Cricket Leinster. It is great to return to Ireland and this position gives me the opportunity to grow the game in the area where I am from. I cannot wait to get started and I am looking forward to working with the cricket clubs in the region."
It has been agreed that for 2021, Bernard's primary focus will be in supporting youth development at Laois CC, Carlow CC, Bagenalstown CC, Kilkenny CC, Mullingar CC and Athlone CC. He will be accountable to Brían O'Rourke (Development Manager) within the CL structures.
