A busy two months ahead of us for the Leinster Girls Youth Programmes. The pinnacle of which are our tours for the girls. This year we not only have U13 and U15 Girls squads heading off to the MBD Festivals in Malvern College, but we now have an U17 Girls squad travelling over. Cricket Leinster are very glad to be able to extend these opportunities to the U17s age group. It comes as part of our commitment to Sport Ireland’s Women in Sport (WIS) programme to grow and develop girls’ participation in sport.

We have also extended our U11s Summer Programme to include a second blitz – July 6^th in Railway Union (38 kids in attendance) and August 23^rd. We will release more information on our annual U11 Girls Camp shortly, which will take place from August 20^th – 22^nd. On July 1st, we held a fun Blitz for 6 – 11year olds prior to the Ireland Bangladesh game. A successful day inspired by Cricket Ireland’s Super 3s teams. All the girls received a Typhoons, Dragons or Scorchers t-shirt to wear for the blitz and bring home with them. Some day maybe they will be the ones wearing the full Super 3s playing kit!

This is the first year, we will be holding U13s Girls Blitzes. We held a soft ball blitz on July 6^th in Railway Union which we were delighted with and now we are adding in a hard ball blitz on August 23^rd. There will also be two-day training camps available for all U13, U15 and U17 players across Leinster. They will take place on July 16^th & 17^th (9.30am – 12.30pm for U13s, 12.30pm – 3.30pm for U15s, 3.30pm – 6.30pm for U17s). We will announce the squads for the U13 girls T20 day on July 13^th, the U15s T20 series against the NCU and NWCU at the end of July and the U15s MBD Festival Squad as well as the U17s MBD Festival Squad over the next few days. The U13s MBD Festival Squad will be selected on July 13^th and release the following week.
