  3. Weekend League Results
9th July 2018 by Eddie Lewis

Weekend League Results

With the Premier and Division 2 leagues taking a break for the T20 Festival, there is time to take a quick look at the results in the other Divisions of the Open Competitions [in so far as results submitted permits].

There may be new leaders in D3 with second placed Pembroke recording a narrow win over North Kildare. No results on from YMCA 2 [weekend leaders] game. The weekend saw the last undefeated team in the Division lose by the narrowest margin. Merrion II lost to Clontarf II in Castle Avenue by one wicket. With teams playing an uneven number of matches it can be difficult to judge exactly who is best placed.

Laois consolidate their position at top of league with a full point win. But they are being pressed by Merrion 3 who also had a weekend win. Third placed Railway 2 suffered a defeat to Malahide. The win for Malahide propels them up the table and puts increased pressure on Clontarf 3 who now drop into relegation zone.

After seven straight wins in a row the Longford winning streak finally are to an end when they came second in a closely fought match v Merrion 4 at Angles Road. The main beneficiaries are YMCA 3 [no results from their game v Castleknock].

In D6 it is no change at the top as the leaders Mullingar chalk up another win to put them 50 points ahead of the pack.

New leaders in D7 as Clontarf 4 climb above Adamstown 2 [whose league game was postponed due to cup]. DLR County 2 also had in important win over Ringcommons to swop third and fourth places.

In the big game in D8, Knockharley 2 defeated leaders Swords. It was not enough to take the yellow jersey but there is now only a handful of points between the two. No word from Laois 2 who were second going into the weekend and could now be leading the table.

No change at the top with Slieve Bloom [leaders] and Phoenix 4 [second] both winning. But more problems for Dundalk who are struggling without a win this season.

Fifth win of the season for Tyrrelstown [D10] has given them a small breathing space over second placed Castleknock 2. But the happiest team may be DLR County 3 whose win moves them off the bottom of the table.

Very tight in D11 with wins for Merrion 6 [5 out of 5] and Rush 3 [second]. Merrion and Rush maintain pressure on leaders YMCA 4 [no results from weekend game].

Leaders Lucan 2 win again in D12 but they are being pressed all the way by AIB who have fully recovered from their early season stumble and also recorded another victory. No result from Bagenalstown 2 who are also in the hunt for honours in third place.

There were no matches in D13 / D14 due to first round of Minor Cup. In D15 both Adamstown 5 [leaders] and Finglas [second] won they games. Leinster [who have four out of four and lie in third place] had no game. No results in from D16.

Official tables will be updated when scorecards are submitted. But if clubs want a quick update on weekend results they must send in summary results [just who won the match and by how much] to the Match Centre before Monday morning. An e/mail to cricketleinster@gmail.com will also work.
