GARDA VETTING & SAFEGUARDING WORKSHOP (23.2.2026)

Cricket Leinster hosted a workshop last evening focused on the new Garda vetting process and the provision of safeguarding best practice guidelines for member clubs.

The workshop was attended by participants from 36 CL clubs.

Thanks to those who facilitated the workshop including Aideen Rice (Chair of CL Safeguarding Committee), Meena Baskarasubramanian (CL DLP), Naomi Scott-Hayward (CL Disability & Inclusion Manager), Isreal Ibeanu (National Safeguarding Officer) and Derek Dockrell (President, LCU&SA).

The presentation pack from the workshop has been shared with the attendees, along with links to relevant documents and resources.

Clubs are encouraged to review these and circulate them within their committees where useful.

GARDA VETTING - REMINDER

Please note that if an individual holds multiple roles within a club, they must be Garda-vetted for each role separately.

For example, someone acting as both a Youth Coach and a Designated Liaison Person must complete vetting for each role individually.

Whilst CI has raised this issue at National level, this remains the requirement which clubs must adhere to.

The CI slides included in the workshop pack outline common errors and best practice for applications. Clubs are encouraged to share these with those embarking on the vetting process.
