In the IBI Corporate Finance First Team League, there were home wins for North Kildare and The Hills whilst the game in Cork was a wash-out with the points shared between Quins and Knockharley.
Today’s results mean that Knockharley, North Kildare and The Hills are all now on over 100 points with the other three (Adamstown, Terenure and Cork Harlequins) now some 40+ adrift of the leaders.
THE HILLS BY 76 RUNS
At The Vineyard, The Hills won the toss and chose to bat first. Opener Mohammad Yaseen Sherzad provided a solid platform with 50 off 47 balls. Liam Blackford then combined with Joe Fletcher (40). and Nathan Rooney to add over 200 for the third and fourth wickets. Rooney was particular savage to the Terenure bowlers as he plundered 59 off just 34 balls including 7 maximums.
Blackford completed another fine ton finishing on 103, one of three dismissals for Benjamin Dillon in an otherwise chastening day for the D6W bowlers.

Chasing an imposing 340, Henry Dall and Thomas Shand put on 67 for the second wicket. The introduction by The Hills of Mohammad Yaseen Sherzad brought the prized wicket of Henry Dall who has been by far Terenure’s best performer so far this season. Shand was then joined by Zeeshan Mumtaz and together they put on 113 for the third wicket in just 16 overs. Shand completed his highest score for Terenure at this level before he was dismissed off the bowling of Andy Kavanagh for a well made 81 off just 86 deliveries (with 7X4s and 4X6s). Mumtaz continued valiantly to maintain momentum on the chase. Sophie Reid was fourth out, bowled by Hayden Clinton on his debut, the latest from the Clinton dynasty at The Vineyard.

Mumtaz eventually fell to Roxton Payne for 75 (off just 73 balls including 11 boundaries and one maximum). He had come to the wicket with Terenure on 67/2 and he departed with the score on 230/5 with 110 needed off 14 overs. Unfortunately, Donal Lynch immediately became Payne’s second wicket in the over!
Payne and Killian McGrane than ran through the Terenure late order such that the last six wickets fell for the addition of just 33 runs with the home side winning by a margin of 76 runs.
NORTH KILDARE BY 14 RUNS
Meanwhile in The Maws, North Kildare just got the better of Adamstown in a 630 run-fest. The home side won by just 14 runs in the final over despite a valiant effort from Adamstown.
amassed over 300 despite the absence of captain Yash Kalasannavar. Moize Haider (77) and Yashraj Mate (67) provided the backbone of the innings with no less than five other players scoring between 22 and 35 such that the home side were in a position to set Adamstown 315 to win at 6.3 runs per over. Best with the ball for Adamstown was the promising young spinner, Arvind Sivanantham who finished with 3/54 off his 10 overs.

The Adamstown chase was dominated by Prashanth Prabhu Damodaran who made another fine knock whilst many other batters got starts at the other end before perishing in the face of tight bowling by the experienced Kildare attack. Damodaran is in decent form having scored a hundred last weekend against Terenure albeit in a losing cause.
The key partnership of the innings for Adamstown was undoubtedly between Damodaran and Niranjan Muthu who combined to add 132 in 20 overs for the 5th wicket. The partnership was eventually broken by Adnan Ahmadzai but not before Muthu had scored a brilliant 59 and Damodaran had completed another fine hundred.
The pick of the bowlers for North Kildare was undoubtedly Nazmus Monon and Adnan Ahmadzai – Monon picked up early wickets and returned to dismiss the centurion to a vital catch by Ganesh Sharma whilst Ahmadzai held his nerve at the end to finish with 4/33.
