End May Checkpoint: Open Competitions D11 - D16

Division 11

With only 13 matches completed in this 8 team league, Merrion Vi have taken an early lead with three wins out of three. They are being hard pressed by Lucan who have four wins and one loss [to Merrion in a very close game]. At the other end of the table Terenure III and Rush III are still awaiting their first victory.

Only three players in the league have scored more than 100 runs, but one of these is approaching the four hundred mark. Ali Hashmi [Lucan], in five innings has scored 378 runs at an average of 126. On the bowling front Muddasir Zeb [North Kildare] has taken 11 wickets but top place in the averages goes to Jithin Jose [Lucan] with eight wickets at a miserly 3.38 per wicket.

Division 12

Division 12 could well prove a pretty competitive league this year. North County IV are in 6th place but have still managed two wins, the same as Swords II who top the league but from only two completed games. It suggests that among the top six, teams are beating each other and it may be some time before a clear leader is confirmed. Balbriggan III are a further unknown factor. They are currently bottom of the league but only because their three games have been rained off. They get the early season award as the most unlucky team with the weather. Leinster V have been more fortunate with the weather - but not with the results and they sit alongside Balbriggan awaiting their first win.

Muhammed Ashfaq [Phoenix] tops the batting averages and also aggregate scores with 269 runs and only out once. Nine players have scored more than 100 runs at this stage of the season.  No bowler has taken 10 wickets. Jerson Santhosh [Swords] tops the averages with 5 wickets at 7.20.

Division 13

OCD13 is a 7 team league, where three teams are unbeaten. At this point just a few bonus points separate Bagenalstown II, Halverstown and Wicklow County. Three teams are also without a win and they too are separated by little more than combinations of bonus points and penalty points. Pembroke V are at least in positive territory while Dublin University III and Greystones III have still to pass the starting line. But with only seven matches played in the league this Division has hardly got started and nobody has reached 100 runs. Sanish Ignatious [Wicklow] tops the bowling with six wickets at 6.17.

Division 14

Another seven team league with only ten completed matches.  AIB has made the early running reeling out three wins and dropping only one bonus point in the process.  Adamstown IV are second and would be closely challenged by Castleknock III for the second spot were it not for the number of penalty points [20] amassed over their five games. At the other end of the table Gorey have lost their only game to the weather and Laois III and Railway V have still to win their first game.

Two players have scored more than 100 runs, Gursharan Singh [Adamstown] and Pardeep Singh [Castleknock]. But it is the former that tops the table with 276 runs at an average of 69. Sana Ullah leads the bowling as both the top wicket taker with 8 and the best average at 3.63.

Division 15

Tyrrelstown are the only team in the league with a 100% record - but it is only from two matches. Indeed this league has the fewest matches played - only five completed. Even given that it is a seven team league it means that the league has hardly got off the ground. With so few matches played it is no surprise that there are other teams, Merrion VIII and Knockharley III, who have also not lost a match.

Despite the paucity of games, two players have managed to creep above the 100 run mark - Vishal Mendiratta [Merrion] and Rajkumar Koka [Tyrrelstown] who have both made 108 runs. The former has the higher average so tops the very small table. Sairam Ayella heads the bowling averages with 7 wickets at 4.71.

Division 16

The final league sees Adamstown V, Clondalkin II and Civil Service IV all without a loss. Clondalkin lead the way with 3/3. With relatively few matches played it is difficult to gauge form and standard.  At the bottom of the table three teams are looking for their first wins [Bagenalstown III, Leinster VI, Ashbourne II]. Nobody has made it to 100 runs yet but there is one standout performance on the bowling front where Syfuzzaman Khan [Clondalkin] has take 13 wickets at 4.38. He does not, however top the averages - that positions reserved for team-mate Abul Shapon who has taken 5 wickets at an average of 3.8.
