The GS Cricket Intermediate cup final took place today between Dundalk Cricket Club and Pheonix Cricket Club in which Dundalk ran out comprehensive winners after an outstanding bowling display saw them reduce Phoenix to 118 AO.

Dundalk won the toss and chose to bowl, a decision that provided an immediate dividend when Usman Azhar removed Vinayak Latti in the second over. That was a good as it got for Dundalk in the first half as Phoenix’s batting unit were able to move their side to 93 in the 11th over. What followed from here were 5 overs of complete chaos as Phoenix contrived to lose 25/8 to be bowled out for 118. Uzman Azhar was the pick of the bowlers with 3/17 while he had support from Tayaab (3/25) and Hedge (3/20).

It was all one way traffic in the chase, the openers set about their task in fast fashion advancing to 49-0 after 6 overs. From there Phoenix attempted to wring the changes to break the partnership but found little success in the next phase of the game as Dundalk moved to 84 in the 11th over before losing Sakhi Jhain for 25. This did not prove to be the catalyst for Phoenix though as Jithin John only accelerated after the loss of his opening partner finishing on 81* from 55 balls.

Cricket Leinster would like to thanks GS Cricket for their support of cricket in Leinster for 2025 along with Lucan Cricket Club who were incredible hosts to both teams.
