DUBLIN UNIVERSITY VS NORTH LEINSTER - DISTRICT CUP T20 (MAY 27TH)

The action keeps coming thick and fast in the CL U23 District Cup, as this week's Wednesday fixture sees Dublin University hosting North Leinster.

The Students will be desperate to show some bouncebackability after yesterday's chastening defeat at the hands of South Leinster in the opening 50 over fixture, however they welcome back some familiar faces that will greatly strengthen the side ahead of this tie.

Their star man on Day 1 of the tournament, Rory Betley, returns at the top of the order, allowing yesterday's stand-in skipper Donncha Tucker to shift back into the middle order, alongside the returning Ryan Smith and captain Mikey O'Reilly.

On the bowling front, left-arm seamer Ahijah Hill and leg-spinner Joe McCarthy also come back into the side, joining Conall Woods, Don Retty and Yash Bala, who were the stand-outs from yesterday's attack. Olliver Mollins returns to the wicket-keeping duties having been in the field in the 50 over tie.

North Leinster meanwhile are also looking to bounce back from disappointment last time out, however theirs is of a wholly different kind, after they fell just one run short in a 390-run thriller in Sydney Parade last Wednesday.

They are once again led by Malahide's Adam Doyle, with his club-mate Matthew Langan retaining the keeping duties. They are joined in a power-packed batting unit by 'Tarf duo Séamus Lynch and John McNally, who are both capable of producing match-winning innings' on their day.

Yaseen Sherzad, fresh off a vital unbeaten century for his club at the weekend is one of three players from The Hills, alongside his brother Muzamil and opening bowler Killian McGrane. The batting is rounded out by John Devane, who is one of three North County men selected.
