  3. Division 11 - Title heading to the south east?
7th April 2013 by Paul Reynolds

Division 11 - Title heading to the south east?

RSA Division 11

2012 Champion - Knockharley 2

2011-12 Top run scorer: U Raees (Laois) 476 runs at 21.64

2011-12 Top wicket takers: A Tudor (Laois) 35 wkts at 18.03

A division full of mystery and intrigue. Opportunities to see the province abound, with four grounds that are in their infancy, and trips from Wexford to Skerries, Kilcormac to Clontarf, and Bagenalstown to Cabinteely.

Cabinteely have come on leaps and bounds in the last 12 months, and now have one of the best park facilities around in Kilbogget Park. Promising signs at the end of last year point to success at some point, but it may be 2014 rather than 2013?

Greystones 2 will be playing in a division higher than their 1sts did in 2012, and despite the buzz around the club, that may be a division too high. I wouldn't be surprised to be proved wrong though.

Slieve Bloom make their debut in Cricket Leinster, and the element of surprise could help. Their new non-turf wicket has been laid this week and should be ready for their first matches - all that remains to be seen is whether they are ready to make the leap between provinces.

North County 5 have been quietly going about their way, and diced with relegation last year before escaping in the depths of September. Similarly The Hills 4, and Bagenalstown 2 both have the look of mid-table anonymity.

That leaves my top three contenders for the title, Wexford Wanderers 2, Clontarf 5 and Castleknock 2.

Castleknock are doing the right things, and Clontarf's strength at lower levels has been seen, but in the interests of balance (they were both tipped for Division 14!), we'll plump for Wexford Wanderers to take the division.

Next Division 10 - Laois 3 to triumph? Or maybe Phoenix 4?
