Following the news that Kevin O’Brien is nursing a slight hamstring injury, the Leinster Lightning selectors have called up Clontarf’s Adrian D’Arcy as his replacement in the squad for today’s 3-Day Hanley Energy Inter-Provincial game against the Northern Knights.
O’Brien sustained the injury whilst fielding for Railway Union in Saturday’s Leinster Division 1 league loss to YMCA. He was replaced by Yaqoob Ali for yesterday’s 50-over clash against the same opposition, victory in which secured our 2nd trophy of the season.
D’Arcy has had a dream season to date, averaging well over 100 in the league for Clontarf in 9 innings, 5 of which he was not out. The selectors feel that his call-up is due reward for his consistent performances. We wish Kevin all the best for his recovery.
