Craig Senior’s Fantasy update

Today is the Leaving Cert results day: a day when the amount of points accumulated in examinations is far more important than mere fantasy points.

58,000 young people have, by this stage, seen the piece of paper detailing their results. Some will spend today in mourning and some will bound through the day with an unbreakable smile playing on their lips.

For those of you who have not met your expectations, just remember that no matter what your results are, no matter what your next step is, no matter what plans have been in place, you have had bad days before and you have managed to get though those. Tomorrow the sun will rise and the world will continue to turn.

And for those of you who have emerged triumphant, enjoy the euphoric feeling, but spare a thought for those less fortunate and finally, when you go out this evening to celebrate/commiserate, keep an eye out for your friends who may be celebrating too much, or really trying to drown their sorrows under a lake of lager.

Back in the fantasy world of Leinster cricket, A Varma [Merrion] remains our top dog with 1,528 points. The breakdown of his points is: 26 games played, 208 runs with one half century, 46 wickets (without a single 5 wicket haul), and 10 catches. With 26 games played he must be playing for at least three different teams in Merrion. This is the advantage of always being available to captains and then performing with each team.

Second place is Simranjit Singh [YMCA], who is but 17 points behind our leader. S Anderson falls to third, but again remains very much in contention having been the first and so far only person to have passed 800 runs.

The tables are now seeing the emergence of the players from Division One. With this season being disrupted by the T20 qualifying tournament, the top divisions find themselves with game after game after game at the moment, and the cream is steadily rising to the top of our lists.
