  3. Cricket Ireland appoint new Women’s Coach

Cricket Ireland appoint new Women’s Coach

AARON HAMILTON  has been appointed by Cricket Ireland as their full-time women’s head coach and performance pathway manager.

The Western Australian has over 17 years’ experience working in different sporting and cricketing environments, including seven at the WACA.

"I am honoured to be given the opportunity to work with Ireland's talented Senior Women's Programme," said the 36 year-old Hamilton, who is a level three Cricket Australia coach.

"It's an exciting challenge for me as I relocate to Ireland from Perth in Western Australia to start my new role at the end of next month.

"I'm looking forward to working with not only the senior team, but also the youth programmes to ensure that Cricket Ireland continues to have highly skilled female cricketers transitioning into the Senior Programme."

Hamilton has just relinquished his post as bowling and assistant coach at Western Fury to take up the new role with Cricket Ireland, and Performance Director Richard Holdsworth is delighted to have secured such a well qualified candidate.

"We are excited that Aaron has agreed a two-year contract with Cricket Ireland. He has an extensive knowledge of not only the women’s game in Ireland, but also internationally. He has a well deserved reputation in the areas of talent identification and development systems which will serve Irish cricket well.

"Aaron is also a specialist bowling coach and this will help develop our current and future stocks of bowlers.  It is great news for the women’s game that we are now able to make the head coach a full-time role and I know Aaron will get stuck into the development of the elite end of the game here.

"It’s a big year with goals of promotion to the ECB County Championship Division 1, a Twenty20 International series with Australia and a World Twenty20 Qualifier in Thailand," concluded Holdsworth.
