Informal Summary League table.
There is plenty of interest across the OC leagues today and tomorrow. We will try to keep you up to date with the latest news and the implications for leagues each day - but we rely on teams and supporters sending in scores to the Match Centre.
Note: Comments about promotion and relegation are based on performances on field of play. In the end it is up to the OCC to confirm who gets to play in what Divisions in 2019.
D3: Three matches tomorrow with the leaders Pembroke 2 taking on third place YMCA 2. Last chance for YMCA for stake claim for a promotion spot [and even with a win depends on Merrion losing twice]. Looking like a Merrion 2 v Pembroke 2 head to head next weekend. But both teams still have work to do. Tomorrow The Hills 2 also take on North County 2 and must win if they are to have a chance of staying up.
D4: Two games this weekend with attention focussed on today’s game between DLR and Clontarf 3. Wins for Merrion 3 and Civil Service have dragged DLR into the relegation zone and although DLR have a game in hand they need a win. Key match could be the Merrion v DLR encounter on 22nd Sept. Laois and Malahide 2, who play each other tomorrow, are fighting it out for second place.
D5: League will be settled this weekend. YMCA 3 can take the tile today if they beat Pembroke 3 [who are lying last]. If they slip up then Longford have a chance [depends on bonus points] of overtaking them. Pembroke have a mathematical chance of survival but the bookies are no longer taking bets and they are expected to go down with Balbriggan 2.
D6: Wexford in poll position but can still be overtaken by Leinster 3 and Mullingar [who have a game in hand]. Wexford v Mullingar today is thus vital and could be a league decider. Leinster 3 take on Railway 3 and need win to stay in the hunt. And then tomorrow Mullingar take on Railway. All three teams are in action again next week [with Mullingar v Leinster key game] but we should know a lot more by tomorrow evening.
D7: We will have to wait until next weekend to determine who takes honour in D7.
D8: It looks like Swords 2 have taken the D8 title and Laois 2 are runners up. Official confirmation depends on conformity not scorecard details. Still all to play for around the second relegation [North County 3 are last] with The Hills currently occupying the position but have a game today v Wicklow and if The Hills win they could go above them. Pembroke 4 are also in the frame. Their last game is against Wicklow next weekend.
D9: Eight games still to play in this Division. Leaders Clondalkin are in action today [v Phoenix 4] and a win will put it up to Carlow who are chasing with a game in hand. Carlow play tomorrow and have a re-fix next weekend. With Dundalk conceding a walk-over to Malahide 4 it looks like Longford 2 will be in the bottom two.
D10: Civil Service 2 have won the Division and Tyrrelstown are second. But the battle to avoid relegation has become a dogfight with up to five teams involved. Lucan are last but even if they win their last game one or other of Adamstown 3 or Balbriggan 3 [who play each other next weekend] will stay above them. But the second relegation spot is in play. Mullingar 2 and DLR County 3 look to be comfortably mid-table but with only one game left they can be caught by Balbriggan 3 and Adamstown 3 who have games in hand. Balbriggan [v Civil Service], Lucan and DLR all in action this weekend.
D11: Merrion take on North Kildare 3 today to determine if they [along with Malahide if they win in D2] are the only sides to go through the league campaign without losing a game. We will have to wait until next weekend to see who takes the second promotion spot when Rush 3 and Clontarf 5 are in action. North Kildare are last and although they have games in hand Civil Service 3 look likely to take 7th place.
D12: AIB can’t now be caught in D12. But the battle is still on for second place with Lucan ahead but having played more matches than Leinster 5, Swords 2 and even Bagenalstown 2. Halverstown are confirmed in bottom place and North County [with a game in hand] have work to do to overhaul Merrion 7. They can make a start today by beating Halverstown. Next weekend will likely determine the final placings.
D13: Phoenix 5 and Adamstown 4 have still matters to settle before the spoils in D13 are distributed. Adamstown [who are lying second] can take the lead if they beat Terenure 3 tomorrow. Then it will be up to Phoenix to respond next weekend when they take on Pembroke 5. The bottom of the table is settled - Terenure 3 and Wicklow County 2.
D14Four games this weekend in D14. With two rounds to play Gorey have won the league [they complete their programme with a double header this weekend]. Laois 3 are relegated and Knockharley 3 look likely to join them. But Knockharley still have three matches to rescue their season. First step, however, is that they have to defeat the league winners Gorey today.
D15: Finglas have last opportunity to challenge Leinster 6 for the league when today they take on Mullingar 3. even if they win Leinster can put the title beyond doubt tomorrow when they take on Adamstown 5. North Kildare 4 also need to win big tomorrow to get out of relegation zone. Carlow 2 are relegated and if Greystones beat them today it will keep them above North Kildare. fair few matches still to play in Division.
D16: An amount of confusion in D16 with completed result cards still to be approved and a number of walk-overs to be adjudicated upon. What we can say is that Ringcommons have a comfortable lead and look set to take the title. They don’t have their final game until 23rd September [against bottom team Swords 3] but matters should be resolved before then.
