  3. Averages for Division 1 & 2
3rd September 2011 by Gerry Byrne

Averages for Division 1 & 2

Only one weekend of matches to go and here are the penultimate set of figures.

Batting

I have left the qualifying mark at 500 as one big innings could bring people presently off the radar into it  Andre stays at the top where he has been most of the season. He has also gone back to the top in terms of aggregate also. Josh Reeves is close to him average wise so not over yet.

Bowling

Here the figures to get into this list is gone up to 25. To qualify for the O’Grady cup needs to be at 30 and there are two past it and two more who have a battle to get there. Last week I said Jim Govan only had one match left but of course was wrong. Still has a chance to get there.  Although there is no cup going for the player who has taken most wickets, there is quite a battle on for that.

Catches in field.
Still Lanky leads with 12 but John Anderson and A Pyne are chasing hard with 10 each.

Wicket Keeper
At last there is a gap (admittedly the minimum one possible) between the two who have been neck and neck for so long. Can Rohit Bahl [25] close that gap and perhaps take the lead or can Paul Tweddle [26] hang on in what must be the closest battle for the Hopkins Cup for years. Patrick Tice at 18 is a long way back in third.

All Rounders
Virtually nothing here between the top 3 as we go into the last match for each, and while slightly behind John Anderson is still within catching distance of them. To remind you players get a point for every run they score and 20 points for every wicket or wicket keeping dismissal. Another close result is almost certain.

As I say only 6 matches left in Divisions 1 and 2, acceptable weather allowing. The other divisions will last longer before they produce a winner.  I hope that the weather for what is left in the season will be good (we deserve it) and that all will enjoy the remainder of 2011.
