  3. The final Division I League Tables
4th September 2011 by Gerry Byrne

The final Division I League Tables

Following the last matches in Division 1 and 2 played yesterday, I attach the final tables for the two divisions.

On Division 1, congratulations to Railway Union in winning the league for only the third time, the previous ones being back in the early 1960’s. However they have been runners 6  times (one joint), including the last two years.  This year North County were runners up, interestingly the first time they have been runners up, although they have been winners on 5 occasions in the last 9 years.  At the other end of the table the two teams who were promoted in 2010, Phoenix and Pembroke, are relegated this year.  As has been commented on a number of times during the season Division 1 has been very tight all season as can be seen with 3 teams with percentages in the 60’s and three with percentages in the 40’s

Division 2 was won in a last day match between the two promoted teams by Terenure over Leinster.  This was the first time for Terenure to win Division  2 or its predecessor Section B. Both of these promoted teams finished far ahead of the reminder of the Division with percentages in excess of 80. At the other end of the table North County 2, who had been promoted last year, were relegated along with Old Belvedere.

Results Week ended 4th September 2011

Division 1

At Castle Avenue North County (24) beat Clontarf (1) by 89 runs

At Park Avenue Railway Union (22) beat The Hills (3) by 3 Wickets

At Sydney Parade. Merrion (25) beat Pembroke (0) by 101 runs.

At Claremont Road. YMCA (21) beat Phoenix (4) by 20 Runs

Division 2.

At Rathmines. Terenure (21) beat Leinster (4) by 21 runs

At Kenure. Malahide (25) beat Rush (0) by 112 runs

Note: In tables below I have included in the number of matches played the number of matches (if any) which have been abandoned with no result. While these do not affect points (as none are awarded) or percentages (as they are ignored in calculating those) they will indicate the number of matches that each team has left to play, as each team may be playing different numbers of matches. Where a match that has been abandoned has to be re-fixed I have not included the abandoned match.
