During the Autumn, we introduced our new All-Ireland rankings, which had moved to cricketleinster.ie after years of being on Leinster CC's site. The rankings use the same method as the ICC's rankings, to rate and rank all club 1st XI's across the three main provinces. A full explanation of the rankings can be found in that article here
So how did last week's results affect the state of cricket on the island? The Hills' defeat to Railway Union was enough to drop them below Instonians, who also lost to Civil Service North. The intricacies of the rankings mean that The Hills are penalised more heavily by losing to 15th place Railway Union than Instonians were by losing to 11th place CSN.
Two other Leinster clubs moved upwards, with Railway themselves moving up a place at the expense of Leinster - who had an unexpected weekend off after heavy rain in Cork.
The other movers were Phoenix, who moved up a place to 24th after their excellent win over Rush.
There will be frequent updates over the season, as Leinster clubs attempt to chase down Waringstown and Instonians, and hopefully bring another Bob Kerr Irish Senior Cup back to the province
