YOUTH COMPETITION STRUCTURES 2022 - CONFIRMED

As the 2022 season draws nearer - the Cricket Leinster Youth Sub-Committee has confirmed the competition structures for the coming season. With over 200 entries into the leagues for the coming season, it is set to be a very busy year ahead.

It is great to see no fewer than 25 teams entered into the Cats age grade - these sides will take part in 6-a-side blitz days with the emphasis on fun.

There are 39 teams entered across the two Cubs competitions, the groups for which can be seen below, this competition is played with either 8 or 10 players a side, with the top two sides in each group playing in semi-finals and finals.

Next up are the Minor age grade competitions, this is an 11-a-side, 20 over competition which also sees a total of 39 teams entered across three competitions. Both Minor A and Minor B will see the top two in each group progress to a semi-final stage, whilst in Minor C, the top two in the group stage will face off in a final.

The Junior age grade sees 29 teams compete across two competitions, with the top two at the end of the group stage progressing to semi-finals in each competition

There are 20 teams across two competitions in the Boys Colts age grade, this is a 30-over-a-side competition, and again there are two groups in each competition, with the top two in each case qualifying for semi-final stages.

The Boys U17 competition has 14 entries, with two groups of seven competing followed by semi-finals for the top two in each case. This is a 20 over competition.

The U19 competition sees one group of 8 teams, with the top two to face off in a final after the group stage. This too remains, as traditional, a 20 over competition.

The Junior Girls competition has been entered by 17 teams across two competitions, the A competition has been split into two groups, and as before, will see the top two in each group progressing to a semi-final, whilst the B competition is one group with 5 entries, meaning the top two will face off in the decider.
