  3. SPORTSHUB SENIOR LEAGUE CUP DRAW 2022 CONFIRMED
1st February 2022 by Cricket Leinster

SPORTSHUB SENIOR LEAGUE CUP DRAW 2022 CONFIRMED

Cricket Leinster's Open Competitions Committee can today confirm the draw for the 2022 edition of the SportsHub Senior League Cup - the draw was completed in SportsHub by the competition sponsors, Arun Kumar and Yogesh Kashyap, facilitated by OCC Chair Micky Lowe.

The return to a full programme in the 2022 season is most welcome and means that this competition will return to the 50 over format which it last occupied in the 2019 season. Currently the Senior League Cup is held by 2021 winners Merrion CC, however the last time the competition was played in the longer format The Hills were victorious in a home final against Phoenix, a game in which the legendary Naseer Shoukat took a remarkable 7/20 to set up a comfortable 8 wicket win for the Skerries side.

Group A will see the 2021 finalists face off in the round robin stage, with Merrion and YMCA drawn in the same group along with fellow Premier League sides Clontarf and Balbriggan. Whilst Leinster, who were relegated from the Premier League at the end of 2021 and North Kildare, Championship finalists in 2021, are joined from the Championship by Rush and Cork County, in a formidable looking group.

Group B on the other hand will see the 2019 finalists facing off as Phoenix and The Hills are drawn together, whilst current Irish Senior Cup holders Pembroke are also in Group B, with Malahide rounding off the Premier League representatives. 2020 Senior League Cup Runners-Up Railway Union are joined from the Championship by Terenure and North County, whilst Dublin University complete the 8 teams in Group B.

On behalf of competition sponsors SportsHub, Arun Kumar wished the teams well in the competition;
"We at SportsHub would like to wish all the teams all the best in both groups for the upcoming competition and throughout the 2022 season"
