  3. Youth Averages in OC Competitions
28th October 2017 by Eddie Lewis

Youth Averages in OC Competitions

Eleven players qualified for the Youth [U18] bowling averages. The threshold was 25 wickets and does not include performances in T20 Competitions. David Vincent [Clontarf] tops the averages on 10.35, JJ Walsh [Merrion] with 45 took the most wickets and Saeedullah Azizi [Leinster] had the best economy rate [3.06 per over]. The best individual bowling performance was from Cillian McDonnell [YMCA] with 7/8 but special mention must be made of the remarkable figures of 6/0 achieved by David Vincent.

The Divisions in the table below refers to the OC Leagues and the number highlighted in red is the level at which most matches were played during the season.

The threshold of the batting averages is 400 runs [again only from league and Cup matches] and nine players qualified. In this case all the relevant measures - average, highest score and most runs are headed by the same player - Harry Archer [The Hills]

Only one player appears in both tables - Mitchell Thompson [YMCA] who scored 457 runs and took 34 wickets. In terms of wicket keeping, most dismissals from Elliott John [YMCA] with 16, followed by Nathan McGuire [Rush] and David O’Halloran [Malahide] with one less. In terms of club representation - it is reasonably spread around province with YMCA prominent thoughout and Merrion in the bowling.

In terms of individual performances across all youth players competing in OC competitions. The highest individual score is by Alex Stiles [Railway Union] who made 151* in a D2 match against Malahide. No one has managed to beat the 7/8 by Cillian McDonnell.
