Malahide 2’s hosted The Hills 2’s and Malahide 2’s won by 6 wickets - no scorecard entered

Friday

After much preparation, Greystones ladies strode out onto the pitch at Trinity College to take on Dublin University with purpose on Friday evening determined to do justice to all Martin Potts training and our own hard work. Angela Hickey and Priscilla Pegman opened the batting setting a good pace With Angela finding the boundary three times before succumbing to a straight ball bowled by trinitys Kingston, one of the two wicket takers on the trinity side. Enter Annalena Morris who batted out of her skin! This was the start of a good partnership for Greystones with Morris and Pegman as Morris found the boundary numerous times and both players capitalised on singles and taking runs where they could be found. There were 23 extras which also assisted the score.

During over 11 Pegman’s wicket fell as she went out LBW to Kingston's bowling. Caroline Burrell came in for Pegman and stayed until the death scoring 13 not out and finding the boundary once. Caroline was joined by Emma Heggie after Morris's was bowled by O'Keeffe but not before scoring a massive 80 runs. What a debut and what a super total. Heggie also kept our run rate ticking over scoring 5 not out. In the end the massive batting effort by greystones left trinity a large total to chase. Final total of 170. Greystones went on to field well in the face of strong batting by Trinitys Oliver in particular who clocked up a whopping 53 not out. We took two wickets ,the first in the opening over thanks to some superb fielding by Hickey and keeping by Burrell. Greystones second wicket came from a ball well bowled straight through by Aileen Fitzpatrick taking Jansav, one of trinitys opening batters out of the equation. It was a wicket well deserved following multiple straight balls well defended by trinity. Despite fading light we stuck to our task and completed the game with a 44 run margin of victory after 20 overs. The game was won by a superb team effort in the field with each person playing their part this text box is not big enough to fit everyone's name but each person deserves a mention with many of othe greystones team never having played competitively before. Great start to the season!hopefully we can keep this going, with Martin Potts help!
