  3. Women’s Academy Plus Division 1 Preview Thursday June 19

Women’s Academy Plus Division 1 Preview Thursday June 19

The Academy Plus Women’s T20 Division 1 continues on Thursday June 19th with two fixtures in Dublin, one on either side of the Liffey.

On the Northside, Clontarf entertain Pembroke in Castle Avenue. Top of the table Pembroke boast a 100% record but have played the fewest games in the top division.

Ireland internationals Kim Garth and Mary Waldron have been the stars of the show for the women from Sydney Parade but Orla Prendergast, Louise Little not to mention Shauna Kavanagh form a solid backbone to the team.

For the home side, Una Raymond-Hoey has been in scintillating form with the bat recently in the 20-over and indeed the 50-over league where she hit a sensational 150 not out a fortnight ago.

At the same time south of the river, YMCA entertain Leinster at Claremont Road.

YMCA have lost four of their seven matches this season, although two of those were to top of the table Pembroke. They did defeat Leinster in the reverse fixture at Observatory Lane by just 2 runs.

On that occasion an all-round performance from Robyn Lewis of 24 runs and 2 for 18 proved the difference in a tightly fought contest.

Leinster for their part have beaten Malahide twice already this season, along with Merrion, with Ellen Ridgeway amongst the runs and Rebecca Stokell & Jenny Sparrow taking plenty of wickets.

YMCA against Leinster promises to be another close encounter and our reporter Peter Boyd will be at Claremont Road with updates throughout the game on Twitter (@fibrofella) and a match report on www.cricketleinster.ie following the game.
