Women Div 1, 2 and 3 Reviews (May 20th-22th)

Tue, 20 May

D2 Clontarf 2 V Leinster 2 - Castle Avenue - Match postponed

Wed, 21 May

D2 Merrion 2 V Rush 1 - Anglesea Road - No scorecard entered

D3 Greystones 1 V Pembroke 2 - Greystones

Game two of the season saw Greystones host Pembroke on a gloriously sunny evening in Wicklow. Hickey and Pegman opened the batting for Greystones against some excellent bowling from the visitors. Pegman scored four before being caught behind the first of two catches taken by Pembrokes' keeper. Hickey batted through to the end scoring a very impressive 45 not out a score particularly creditable given the quality of the guests bowling.

Carma O'Connor Dunne came on next for Greystones clocking up 5 runs before being bowled by Mullen. Annalena Morris was next to bat and scored five before succumbing to the second excellent catch behind by Pembrokes' keeper. Knocks from Heggie, (3) Fitzpatrick and McDonnell (2) brought Greystones total to 79 after 20 overs.

Despite the valiant batting effort 79 was always going to be a tough total to defend against an experienced Pembroke team.  Greystones must take credit for some excellent efforts in the field all round. However Pembroke stuck to their task and clocked up the required 80 in the 14th over. Quality knocks from Pembroke most notably Gray (36) and Carthy (17) sealed the victory for the visitors.

All round a well fought game of cricket and a good learning experience for the home team, no shame in defeat against such an experienced opposition. Huge thanks to everyone from Greystones cricket who supported the team on the day especially the scorers and umpires - Sent in by Pricilla Pegman
