  3. WINS FOR PHOENIX, BALBRIGGAN AND CLONTARF - ED SPORTS PREMIER LEAGUE
18th June 2026 by Mick Cotter

WINS FOR PHOENIX, BALBRIGGAN AND CLONTARF - ED SPORTS PREMIER LEAGUE

A fine evening of action in the ED Sports Premier League this evening saw wins for Phoenix, Balbriggan and Clontarf.

The first result of the evening was a comprehensive result for Balbriggan, as they saw no fewer than 5 different wicket takers, including 2/9 for Lara Maritz and 2/25 for Courtney Gounden, as they kept Malahide to just 61 all out. Their chase was very straightforward, with Maritz unbeaten on 30, and Gounden on 28 securing a 10 wicket win for the Brigg in just 32 deliveries!

In the Park, Phoenix were indebted to 75 for Aditiba Chudasama, supported by a 44-ball 48 for Siúin Woods, as they set Rush an imposing 171/3 in their 20 overs. That wasn't where the impact ended for Chudasama, as she took 2/27 in her four overs, supporting Darcey Dalwood who was the pick of the bowlers including the big wicket of Ellie McGee, who played a lone hand making 65. Dalwood finishing with 2/23, whilst there were wickets for each of Arisha Foysal, Juliet Gargan, Nevedha Saravanarajan and Sophie McDonough, as Rush were restricted to just 131/9, securing a 40 run win for Phoenix.

Finally, the closest game was in Sydney Parade, where Pembroke batted first and made their way to 138/7 in 20 overs, with Laura Delany's debut 42, supported by 30 from Marama Downes making up the bulk of the runs. Hannah Lee's 2/20 saw her the pick of the bowlers, whilst Robyn Searle also claimed 2/30 in 3 overs. In response, Searle got the innings started with a run-a-ball 23, however when she and Lucy Barry were dismissed, it was left to an excellent stand by Genevieve Morrissey and Rosie Neuman-Jones, who added an unbroken 80 for the fourth wicket, Morrissey ultimately the star of the show, finishing unbeaten on 54 from just 52 deliveries, as 'Tarf won with 4 balls to spare!
