Weekly Round-Up : RSA D3 - D14 Tenth Weekend

As poor weather continues to disrupt fixtures, the RSA Open Competitions league tables maintain an early season feel with many clubs barely into their season. With many clubs engaged in cup fixtures, last weekend did not see many changes in the leagues. Two important results, however, were recorded, the first losses for early season leaders of Division 7 [Merrion V] and Division 11 [Railway IV]. Despite scoring 255 Railway lost be six wickets to N County V, while Merrion V lost by the same margin to Leinster IV.

The latest list of unbeaten teams is as follows:

D3       Balbriggan and Clontarf II

D5       Clontarf III and Merrion III

D8       Clontarf IV

D10     Sandyford II

D11     Laois III

D12     Greystones and Belvedere III

D13     Ring Commons

D14     Clonee II

Two centuries were scored last weekend,. S Thomas who made exactly 100 in a D10 match for Swords against Rush III. The top score of the weekend, however, went to V Jacob [144*] in the Middle II Cup for Dundrum II against Wexford.

The best bowling performance was K Varghese [7/12] in helping secure victory for Dundrum III against Leinster VIII in D14. Other notable bowling performances were W Archer [6/11] in The Hills rain affected win over Merrion II in the Senior II Cup, S Nethula [5/11] to reduce Clonee to 109 all out and set up a comfortable win for Belvedere II in D6 and R Bahl [5/22] for Pembroke II against Mullingar also in Senior II Cup.

Perhaps the strangest match though took place in the Intermediate Cup. It is not often that you score 72 and end up winning by more than 50 runs. This is what happened in the match between Swords, who made the 72, and Cabinteely who were all out for 21 with extras [7 the top score] and no batsman getting more than 3.
