The first round of the Senior II Cup provided the most exciting and notable matches of the weekend. The closest match was YMCA II victory by a single run as they defended 205 against Laoise despite 51 extras and 77 fro R Meary. The Fingal clash between North County II and The Hills II also produded an excellent match with over 450 runs scored in the afternoon. In the end the 247 from The Hills batting first [Patrick Byrne 83] was enough to hold out the N County chase of 214 [E Branagan 6/41]. But the outstanding match of this round [at least for those who liek to see big scores] must have been the massive 337/8 chae by Phoenix II against Leinster II [333/10]. This match also produced the only century of the weekend - V Vaidayanathan [104].
Other significant batting performances were W Raza [81*] to posst a score of 211 in Civil Services II win over N County IV [D9] and F Ismail [80*] for Rush III in win over Cabinteely [D10] and N Tariq [76*] for DCU III hepling to chase down Adamstown's 150 [D13]
Despite a few notable batting performances bowlers continue to dominate and ensure victories for their teams. The individual performance of the weekend was Robbie Ensor [6/43] in another Senior II Cup match as Merrion II won at Railway Union. Other 5 wicket hauls that ensuring wins were :
