Update from Rory Anders in New Zealand

Hello all, my past month in Whangarei has been a brilliant one. The majority of the month has consisted of our T20 tournament which my team, Onerahi Central CC went 6-0 and won the T20 final on December 11th. We went three Saturdays in a row playing two T20s in a day, in a round robin with the top two teams heading into a final to decide the winners. My team showed dominance throughout the tournament. In two of the games I wasn't even required to bat even though I was slotting in at 5/6. In the games I did bat I scored a couple of 20’s accompanied with red ink and in the final, which was a low scoring affair. I top scored with only 22 on a tricky track to force our team near some sort of respectability. In terms of bowling I performed admirably in most of the games. The best of these performances were 4-20 vs Kaipara Flats CC, 3-7 vs Kamo CC and 1-12 off 4 overs in the final vs City CC.

Winning the first trophy of the year was fantastic for Onerahi Central CC and we hope to achieve the same heights in the 50 over and the two day tournaments.

The following two weekends we played Maungakaramea CC in a two-day game across two Saturdays which we lost. I had a decent game returning figures of 3-49 in the first innings and figures of 3-12 in the second.

Apart from cricket I've been working hard on the farm and travelling to the nearby beaches, (which are not in short supply!). I plan on travelling the North Island over my Christmas and New Year’s break and then in the New Year I should be back into work on the farm.

Overall I'm having a wonderful time out here and since I'm halfway through my trip now I hope the second half can be as beneficial and exciting as the first half!!
