Today closed out the U15 Cricket Ireland Interprovincial Series for 2025. Both Leinster teams, Navy and Blue, took on NCU and NWCU in T20s in Balbriggan and North County. Results did not come to fruition, however it was a fantastic development opportunity for the players to perform against their peers at this level and in both 35-over and T20 formats.
NWCU came out well on top having won 5 out of their 6 matches between the two formats. NCU in second place with CL Navy and CL Blue following.
We could see good development strides made throughout the series. Top two run makers for the tournament both being Leinster players: Susie Whaley 122runs (Pembroke); Sarah Prendergast 112runs (Terenure), with both Whaley, Prendergast and Morgan scoring 50s. Whaley scoring the most in a match of the tournament 57*. Lauren Torpey (Leinster) and Katie O’Toole (Clontarf) took 7 wickets each, making it into the top 5 bowlers for wickets taken, whilst Hannah Lee (Clontarf) topped them taking 8wickets during the series becoming the 2nd top wicket taker. Torpey also took a hatrick, as well as having 3rd top bowling figures (4-24) in the tournament.
Cricket Leinster would like to thank everyone who made this series possible — the coaches(Eimear Richardson, Tahlia Dunne and Chuka Uba), manager (Naomi Scott-Hayward), umpires, scorers, ground staff, administrators (Sorcha Cunningham) and our host clubs (Oak Hill, Balbriggan, North County and Railway Union). A special thank you goes to all the parents, guardians and supporters for your constant encouragement, energy, and support throughout the series.
This tournament is an integral step in our girls’ development pathway. A massive thank you had to go to Cricket Ireland for running the tournament and in particular to Albert Vandermerwe and James Taylor for all the logistics that went into making it all happen.
With cricket season in full swing, we wish all our players the very best as they await news of selection for the Irish U15 squads. The commitment, skill, and sportsmanship on display during this series bodes well for the future of Leinster and Irish women’s cricket.
Well done to all involved — and we look forward to seeing many of these names again at higher levels in the seasons to come!
