As the final IP20 Festival of the summer drew to a close at Sydney Parade this evening, the Sherwin O’Riordan sponsored Leinster Lightning were duly presented with the IP20 trophy for 2025.
The trophy was presented to the Lightning captain, Lorcan Tucker who was joined by the victorious Leinster playing squad and Meena Baskarasubramanian, CL President for 2025.
In congratulating the Leinster Lightning team, Meena commented as follows:
“On behalf of everyone across the Cricket Leinster community, I want to congratulate Andre Botha, Lorcan Tucker and the entire Leinster Lightning squad on winning the IP20 title again this year. It is a huge credit to our club system in Leinster that our representative team has continued to dominate at Interpro level whilst also providing many players to the other IP provincial teams.
I also want to take this opportunity to thank James Sherwin and David O’Riordan at Sherwin O’Riordan Solicitors for their unstinting support to both the Leinster Lightning and the Leinster Bolts.”
Leinster Lightning has dominated the IP competitions since they were reconstituted in 2013 and this year’s success is their 9th time as IP20 Champions in the 13 years of the competition. The previous titles were secured in 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2020, 2022 and 2024.
The Leinster Lightning will finish their summer with three games in the IP50 competition as follows:
Wednesday 13th August: Munster Reds vs Leinster Lightning (10.45am, The Mardyke)
Wednesday 20th August: Northern Knights vs Leinster Lightning (10.45am, Stormont)
Wednesday 27th August: North West Warriors vs Leinster Lightning (10.45am, Bready)
The Lightning will go into these final matches in August looking to build on the strong start established back in May when they won all their home games at Oak Hill, Co Wicklow (table below):
The Leinster Bolts will also commence their Future Series campaign next week when they take on the Emerging Warriors in a two-day red ball game at Oak Hill on Tuesday and Wednesday next, 15th and 16th July.
