A brilliant afternoon of cricket in Park Avenue today saw St Columba's College claiming their first Senior Title since 2006, as they chased down Wesley College's 155 in the penultimate over of the innings.
Having lost the toss, Wesley were inserted, and after some early blows from Lucy Fox at the top of the order, their innings was dominated by Isobel Jennings, with the Ballinteer side's star player making an unbeaten 51, guiding the team to a total of 155/9 in their 20 overs.
An excellent second innings was in store, and St Columba's ensured just that, as Safia Walker's 46 and Sophie Pollock's 30 helped to guide their side to what was ultimately a remarkable run-chase in the 19th over of the innings.
Walker was duly presented with the player of the match award, after her crucial contribution of 46 and taking a key wicket early in the Wesley College innings.
