SPRINT COATINGS DIVISION 1 ROUND UP

This week's matches in the Sprint Coatings Division 1 competition were on Tuesday and saw the teams field without members of the National Team squad who are in St Lucia playing against the West Indies.

YMCA vs Pembroke

Pembroke 127/8 off 20 overs (Isobel Jennings 60*, Kate Woods 3-38, Sarah Forbes 3-11, Alice Tector 1-17)

YMCA 119 all out in 19.1 overs (Sarah Forbes 29, Siuin Woods 29, Robyn Lewis 29, Anna Beale 3-21, Zoe Bell 3-15, Louise McCarthy 1-17)

Having been put in to bat, Pembroke's innings was anchored by Isobel Jennings with an attacking 60, she carried her bat through the innings. She received good support from Louise McCarthy (14) and Lainey Martin (19) and thanks to a healthy contribution from extras they were able to post 127.

In reply the YMCA top order all got started but none kicked on. Forbes, Woods & Lewis all made 29 but the tail fell away and YMCA finished 119 all out (9 wickets taken)

Malahide v Clontarf

Clontarf 145/1 off 20 overs (Christina Coulter Reilly 61, Robyne Searle 74*, Sarah Condron 1-19)

Malahide 119-3 in 20 overs (Sarah Condron 41, Anna Kerrison 25, S Thompson 1-12, J McNally 1-37, C Coulter-Reilly 1-11)

Clontarf won by 26 runs

The Clontarf top order fired with Robyn Searle (74*) and Christina Coulter-Reilly putting on 133 and batting all but 2 balls of the innings together. Sarah Condron was the wicket taker for Clontarf.

Malahide's chase saw them bat positively but they were never able to keep up with the required rate. Anna Kerrison batted through the innings for 25* and Sarah Condron top scored with 41, but wickets for Thompson, McNally and Coulter-Reilly saw them restricted to 119 in 20 overs, 26 runs short of the target.

Phoenix v The Hills

The Hills 226/2 in 20 overs (Mary-Anne Musonda 100*, Tahlia Dunne 57, Nevedha Saravanarajan 1-36, Arisha Foysal 1-51)

Phoenix 91/8 in 20 overs (Claire Terblanche 28, Tara O'Brien 4-14, Jane Maguire 1-6, Rebecca Gough 1-9, Chloe Ericson 1-14, Aisling Byrne 1-9)

The Hills won by 135 runs

The Hills innings was once again centered around Mary-Anne Musonda, who scored 100 exactly off 68 balls. She was supported by Tahlia Dunne with 57 and 38 extras.

Phoenix set out to bat the innings and this they did, despite regular wicket taking from The Hills. Claire Terblanche top scored with 28 and Tara O'Brien was the leading wicket taker with 4-14.

Leinster 1 vs Merrion 1

Merrion 136/7 in 20 overs (Rachel Delaney 40, Celeste Raack 33, Mary Kate McLoughlin 3-15, Joanna Loughran 3-30, Eimear McHale 1-22)

Leinster 128/5 in 20 overs (Yolandi Van Der Westhuizen 32, Rachel Byrne 24*, Rebecca Rolfe 23, Síbha Bhoja 2-23, Rachel Delaney 1-21, Isobel Light 1-24)

Merrion won by 8 runs

Merrion won the toss and decided to bat first. Their top order struggled against some excellent bowling from Mary Kate Mcloughlin (3-15) but the experience Celeste Raack (33) and Rachel Delaney (40) in the middle order set them up for a score that they would have a chance to defend. Both were dismissed by Joanne Loughran who took 3-30.

Leinster would have fancied chasing that score, but they weren't able to put a match winning partnership together. Rolfe, Loughran (18) and Van Der Westhuizen all got started and Rachel Byrne (24*) nearly got them over the line but they weren't able to get the 16 off the last over they needed. The Merrion bowlers all bowled well - a great team effort.
