13th May 2013 by Eddie Lewis

Seven victims behind stumps is record

In the recent match between Clontarf and Ballymena in the RSA Irish Senior Cup, Robert Forrest took seven victims behind the stumps [four catches and three stumpings]. The keeper of the statistics for cricket in Leinster, Gerry Byrne, delved into the recorded books to see if he could come up with a comparable performance. While there have been a number of cases where wicket keepers have taken six victims [and the Railway keeper Des Byrne once took six stumpings in a match, there is no record of anyone taking seven. So the record is now held, on his own, by Robert Forrest.
