July 21st was a historic day down Sydney Parade way, as Pembroke 2 won the Tillain Cup for the first time, at the 32nd attempt.

Pembroke battled through the bottom half of the draw, beating Laois 1, Clontarf 2 and Leinster 2, whilst their final opponents, Phoenix 2, beat Knockharley 1, The Hills 2 and Merrion 2.

The final saw an impressive display from Pembroke from the very start. Rehan Ali and Danny Barclay put on 41 for the first wicket, before Barclay (68) and Jodi de Sousa (60*) added 83 for the second, taking Pembroke to an impressive 168-2 from their 20 overs. Ian Anders anchored the innings with a fluent 55 from 43 deliveries, but wickets fell around him, as Phoenix struggled to stay in touch.

Andrew Leonard was the pick of the bowlers with 3-25, with Danny Barclay competing a fine match with 2-19, as Phoenix finished 25 runs short.
